The even year 2012 will bring the 4th ALMA interdisciplinary seminar intended for Czech experts and students of subjects dealing with artworks and cultural heritage protection. Its crucial topic is Knowledge and experience in the fine art – from understanding materials to technological applications.
Dear friends of the ALMA laboratory, the year is coming to an end. Therefore we would like to wish you merry Christmas and a happy new year. May the upcoming year be successful in all spheres of your lives and may your troubles "dissolve" at least as much as the verdigris crystals in the tempera in the introductory picture to this news.

Petr Bezdička has left a significant trace at the 22ndInternational Union of Crystallography (IUCr) Congress in Madrid held last summer. He was appointed a new member of the IUCr Commission on Crystallography in Art and Cultural Heritage, chaired two microsymposiums and received the PANanalytical IUCr 2011 Best poster Award. The ALMA seminar proceedings, which was released under the new name Acta Artis Academica last year, has been added to the ISI Proceedings Database. Abstracts of all papers published in the proceedings can now be found on the Web of Science site.
