On the occasion of the 1st student workshop organized by the ALMA laboratory on September 30 - October 2, 2013, a monograph entitled "The Contribution of Material Analysis to the Interpretation of Painting Techniques and Art-Historical Research in General" was published. The topics discussed at the workshop are elaborated in six separate chapters of the book. The common theme is the presentation of contemporary developments in the material analysis of painting, with an emphasis on general aspects and the actual meaning of using experimental science tools in the fields of restoration, monument preservation, and art history.
