The seventh CrysAC workshop, this time on the topic of Provenance Studies in Art and Cultural Heritage, took place at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava on July 1, 2025.

The workshop organized by ALMA laboratory as a satellite meeting of the 7th International Congress Chemistry for Cultural Heritage (CHemCH 2024, Bratislava, Slovakia) gathered scientists from research institutions, museums, and conservation bodies, to illustrate state-of-the-art studies focusing on determining the origin of materials (manufacturing method or natural sources) and provenance of art objects (whether in the sense of regional, workshop, or period) using methods of advanced materials analysis.

The programme was introduced by Veronika Gabčová, the director of the Slovak National Gallery, and Martin Oravec, the research scientist at the SNG. Seven international speakers presented their research related to provenance of artworks and archeological artefacts covering a broad palette of materials (amber, ivory, lead white, silex). The ALMA members Dr Hradil and Dr Imbert Štulc gave talks about application of mineralogical analysis of clays and isotopical analysis of wood in provenance studies.
