International cooperation

ALMA is developing long-term collaborations in the interdisciplinary research of works of art not only in the Czech Republic, but also in other European countries (Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Romania). The interdisciplinary research has always involved cooperation with cultural institutions (museums, galleries) and individual art historians and restorers.

Since 2006, ALMA has organized international conferences – biannual open fora for broad interdisciplinary discussions concerning research, protection and restoration of works of art with the participation of experts and students from various fields of natural sciences, history of art and restoration/conservation. Since 2010, Proceedings of ALMA conferences - Acta Artis Academica - have been included in the ISI Proceedings database (Web of Science).

Since 2011, ALMA has participated on activities of the Commission on Crystallography in Art and Cultural Heritage (CrysAC), International Union of Crystallography (IUCr), focusing an application of advanced crystallographic methods in the field and strengthening the links between crystallographers, mathematicians, materials scientists, artists, designers, architects, curators, conservators and archaeologists.
