The first student workshop organized by ALMA laboratory in collaboration with the Moravian Gallery in Brno took place from 30 September to 2 October 2013. The topic of the workshop was "Contribution of materials analysis for interpreting the paintings technique and art-historical research in general" and was designated for students of humanities and arts, where the teaching of technical, technological and scientific subjects is limited for logical reasons or is not even any. Current progression in the possibilities of instrumental analyses of artworks requires that even these students have a basic overview of how the analytical tools can be used for their purposes, particularly for the description of the painting technique or determining of artwork provenance.
